Kenmore Elite 9490 - 46-9490, 469490, ADQ73613402 Replacement Refrigerator Water Filter

For years, my parents had to spent $50-60 every 6 months for the Whirlpool Everydrop water filters. This was for a Kenmore branded fridge that had originally come with a Kenmore branded water filter. While it was occasionally possible to find a great deal for one at $45 or so ... it was still a significant cost to replace. About a year ago was when I found these Kenmore branded water filters start showing up online. Looking exactly like the original one the fridge came with. We got one to try out and it was just as good as the Whirlpool version only, at that point, half the price. Now, far more places are selling them and the price has dropped to $21-22 per water filter. Nearly 1/3rd the price. We don't know whether these are warehouse finds of old Sears stock or whether Kenmore can finally start to sell their filters in the US, but, with so many other things going up in price, it's always refreshing when something changes in the favor of the consumer. In this case, being able to get the same high quality water purification at a fraction of the old price. For a parent living strictly on Social Security, being able to get 1-1/2 years of purified water for the same price as 6 months worth used to be can be a significant cost savings.

We have tried to keep using the OEM filters as recommended by Whirlpool, however - the last few have gotten clogged relatively quickly - and therefore, need to be replaced months earlier. We've called Whirlpool customer service to complain - they say there's nothing they can do - no offer to replace, no offer to discount, and therefore - we've walked away.... these have been a great replacement - as we are leary of going with a 'no-name' brand from China. (we really should be able to get filters for American machines - that work - from an American source!)

I finally solved my Kitchenaid KFRC704 refrigerator water filter dispensor issue. I would hve to reset the filter multiple times per day for the dispensor to work. Plus there was always a puddle of water at the filter door. It did not leak per se, just this small puddle. It seemed to be getting air into the system.

I ordered a Kenmore brand water filter 9082, it had smaller diameter O-Rings, so it was able to in further and that did the trick!. A tech had told me once that the filter needed to go in further when it was under warranty, now 5yrs later with the Kenmore brand filter, it works, no puddle, no having to reset the filter cartridge. The Every Drop filters has larger diameter O-Rings, which is a no-go.

Quality filter and cheaper than the original and completely compatible with our refrigerator. Very pleased. Will buy again. No leaks. Easy to install.
